Avocados for Heart Health

Many of us have been chowing down on avocados for absolute ages (who could forget the duchess of Sussex’s avocado toast afternoon tea) but a study recently published by Harvard University has found that eating two or more servings of avocado a week (one serving = half an avo) could cut your risk of coronary heart disease by a whopping 21 per cent compared to those who don’t eat them. More than 100,000 people were followed for several years to see how avocado consumption impacted on long-term health conditions.

Avocados contain high levels of fibre, heart-healthy unsaturated fats and other key nutrients, including magnesium and vitamins C, E, and K and, while no one single food is the solution to a healthy lifestyle, there is evidence avocados are indeed a beneficial addition to your plate.
